Nkoranza South: The District Level Elections (DLEs) in the Nkoranza South District of the Bono East Region concluded without incidents, as confirmed by the Electoral Commission (EC).
According to Ghana News Agency, Mr. Anthony Manu, the Nkoranza South Municipal Returning Officer of the EC, stated that the elections were conducted across 29 Electoral Areas (EAs) and 162 Polling Stations (PSs) during the designated voting hours from 0700 to 1700 hours, and proceeded without any disruptions.
Mr. Manu explained in an interview that the unit committee elections were postponed in six EAs, which consisted of 41 PSs. This was due to the inability of these areas to present the required minimum of five candidates necessary for conducting the unit committee elections.
He reported that a total of 94 candidates, including two females, participated in the District Assembly Elections. Meanwhile, 209 candidates, comprising 191 males and 18 females, contested at the unit committee level.
Mr. Manu noted that the EC was in the process of retrieving voting materials, particularly from the district's more inaccessible communities. He commended the candidates and their supporters for maintaining order and discipline throughout the election process.
He also expressed gratitude to stakeholders, including the electorate, for their cooperation and support during the voting period.
