Didi Dramani Advocates for Long-Term Football Strategy in Ghana

Accra:Didi Dramani has expressed support for the appointment of Kim Lars Björkegren and the interim Black Stars technical team, highlighting their capability to stabilize Ghana's senior national team. Dramani, a former assistant coach for the Black Stars, believes the new technical team possesses the necessary experience and quality to guide the team effectively.

According to Ghana Web, Dramani emphasized the need for Ghana to establish a sustainable football system to achieve long-term success. He noted that while the leadership's decision to appoint the interim technical team is commendable, Ghana's football challenges cannot be resolved through coaching changes alone.

Dramani advocated for a clear football structure that governs coach appointments, player selection, and national team development, rather than allowing individual interests to dictate decisions. He cited Spain and Germany as examples of countries that have reaped benefits from structured football systems and urged Ghana to adopt a similar approach for consistent national team management.

He also stressed the importance of establishing a clear pathway for player selection to minimize public disagreements over who should represent the country. Dramani sees Ghana's failure to qualify for the last Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) as an opportunity to address underlying problems within the sport.

Dramani questioned the effectiveness of frequently changing coaches without tackling the structural issues that affect the Black Stars. He argued that reforms should extend beyond the technical team and encompass the entire football industry.
