Jomoro: The Deputy Minister for Transport, Dorcas Affo-Toffey, has provided a significant donation of food items to the Muslim communities in the Jomoro Constituency of the Western Region. The donation is set to aid these communities during the 30-day fasting period.
According to Ghana Web, the assortment of items donated includes 100 bags of 50kg sugar, 100 packs of milk, 120 boxes of Lipton tea, 15 boxes of milk, and 60 boxes of Victoria tea, among other supplies. During the presentation ceremony at T1, Affo-Toffey, who also serves as the Member of Parliament for the area, urged the Muslim leaders to pray for peace in the ongoing conflict between Iran and the United States.
Affo-Toffey emphasized the importance of global peace, urging, "We want peace in this world; war is not good at all. So please use your fasting period to pray to Allah to intervene in the ongoing war between Iran and the Americans." Additionally, she encouraged prayers for the nation of Ghana and its President, John Dramani Mahama, to be guided with divine wisdom.
The Deputy Minister also expressed her commitment to enhancing Islamic education in the constituency by pledging 100 bags of cement post-Ramadan to aid in completing a nursery school structure. She further promised continued support during Eid al-Fitr, including donations of rice, cooking oil, and boxes of tomatoes and sardines.
Alhaji Jallo, the Jomoro Municipal Chief Imam, expressed gratitude towards Dorcas Affo-Toffey for her generous contributions. He assured that the resources would be distributed equitably across the Muslim communities and affirmed the community's commitment to praying for peace in Iran and the well-being of Ghana.
