Lagos: Music executive and Dapper Group founder Damilola Akinwunmi, known as Dapper, has publicly addressed allegations from former artists Seyi Vibez and Shallipopi concerning the management of their music catalogues. In a series of posts on his X handle, Dapper invited the artists to submit their contracts and financial records for forensic examination by leading audit firms, asserting that this would clarify the financial disputes.
According to Ghana Web, Dapper insisted on transparency by suggesting that Seyi Vibez and Shallipopi allow renowned firms like KPMG, PwC, and Deloitte to conduct a forensic analysis of their accounts and contracts. He emphasized that the outcome would reveal the truth of the financial dynamics between them.
Dapper claimed that both artists received substantial advances and improved percentages under their agreements with Dapper Music. He accused the artists of resisting audits while allegedly indulging in luxury purchases, challenging them to show accountability for their financial dealings.
The conflict with Seyi Vibez and Shallipopi surfaced months after both artists left Dapper Music over business disagreements. Seyi Vibez marked his departure in September 2024, signaling a new independent phase for his career. Seyi Vibez initially joined Dapper Music in 2021, achieving mainstream success with projects like Billion Dollar Baby and hit tracks such as Chance (Na Ham).
Shallipopi, who parted ways with Dapper Music in December 2024, accused the label of financial mismanagement and exploitative contracts. He alleged that Dvpper Digital, associated with Dapper, misused advances meant for him. Dapper Music countered these claims by stating that Shallipopi had voluntarily renegotiated his contract with legal assistance.
In his response, Dapper questioned Shallipopi's consistency regarding allegations of forgery and manipulation. He recounted his initial investment in Seyi Vibez's career, asserting his significant role in the artist's early projects.
Dapper also accused Shallipopi of avoiding a scheduled court appearance while challenging him to a legal confrontation. He concluded by expressing a desire for collaboration over competition, reiterating his commitment to music and refusing to engage in personal insults.
