Danquah Smith Buttey Defends Kojo Bamba’s Leadership Capabilities Amid Language Criticism

Sanaa:Former First Vice Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Danquah Smith Buttey, has defended the party's selection of Kojo Bamba as First Vice-Chairman-elect, arguing against criticism regarding Bamba's English proficiency as a measure of his qualification for the role.

According to Ghana Web, Danquah Smith Buttey emphasized in a discussion on Morning Starr with Isaac Addae on Starr FM that Kojo Bamba has undergone all necessary procedures, submitted his nomination forms, and was duly qualified to contest for the position. Buttey stated that once Bamba met the requirements and was cleared to run, his eligibility should not be questioned based on English language skills.

Buttey dismissed the notion that English proficiency should be a criterion for leadership within the party. He cited examples from countries like India, China, and Germany, where leadership is conducted effectively in native languages, suggesting that English is not a requisite for effective leadership.

Smith Buttey highlighted the importance of respecting the decision made by the NPP delegates through their electoral process, urging the focus to shift towards the tasks ahead for the newly elected executives. He stressed that they should be given the opportunity to fulfill their duties without their qualifications being constantly scrutinized.

He expressed confidence in the ability of the elected executives to perform their roles and contribute positively to the party's activities, irrespective of any concerns regarding the First Vice-Chairman-elect's language abilities.
