Accra:The US dollar, British pound, and euro have all increased in value against the Ghana cedi According to latest interbank exchange rates published by the Bank of Ghana.
According to Ghana Web, the rates released on Monday, October 19, 2026, show the US dollar selling at GHS11.6708, up from GHS11.6558 in the previous schedule from Friday, October 16. The buying rate also rose from GHS11.6442 to GHS11.6592.
The British pound's selling rate increased to GHS15.5537 from GHS15.4486, with the buying rate moving from GHS15.4320 to GHS15.5370. Similarly, the euro's selling rate climbed to GHS13.1023 from GHS13.0600, and its buying rate rose from GHS13.0459 to GHS13.0904.
These changes indicate a slight weakening of the cedi against these major currencies, as reflected in both buying and selling rates between the two published schedules. The latest rates are based on average interbank quotations at the close of business on Friday, October 16, 2026, while the previous schedule was based on rates from Thursday, October 15, 2026.
For customers, this means buying dollars, pounds, or euros through transactions priced around the published interbank rates would result in slightly higher cedi costs compared to the previous schedule. However, the actual rates offered by commercial banks and forex bureaus may vary.
The exchange rates offer an indication of foreign exchange market movements, though they do not explain the underlying causes of these changes.
