Comedian Parrot Mouth Criticizes Xenophobic Attacks in South Africa

Accra: Nigerian-Ghanaian-based comedian, Parrot Mouth, has voiced his concerns over the recent xenophobic attacks on Ghanaians residing in South Africa. The comedian shared his views during an interview with GhanaWeb's Joseph Henry Mensah, highlighting the importance of Ghana to South Africa's development.

According to Ghana Web, a video recently emerged on social media showing South Africans attacking Ghanaians in the country and demanding their deportation. Parrot Mouth reacted by asserting that South Africa owes much of its progress to Ghana, stating, "South Africa is 'nothing' without Ghana." He believes that the xenophobic incidents are fueled by depression among South Africans, which is causing increased hostility towards foreigners. He emphasized the economic contributions of Ghanaians in South Africa, suggesting that the country would suffer economically if Ghanaians were to leave.

Parrot Mouth also claimed that South Africa does not contribute positively to other African nations, accusing the country of taking rather than giving. He made a comparative remark, placing Ghana in high regard and expressing a preference for traveling to Togo over South Africa. "Ghana is like Canada, and if I am given the option to travel to South Africa or Togo, I will choose Togo," he stated, reinforcing his criticism of South Africa's value to the continent.
