Christians Encouraged to Integrate Faith with Medical Care

Accra: Dr. Angel Abena Tiwaa, a Medical Officer, has called on Christians to combine their faith in divine healing with maintaining healthy lifestyles and seeking professional medical care. She emphasized that while prayer is essential, it should not be the sole response to illness. Instead, Christians should seek appropriate medical attention, adhere to professional advice, and adopt healthy habits to ensure overall well-being.

According to Ghana News Agency, Dr. Tiwaa delivered this message during a 'Health Sunday' service organized by Resurrection Power and Living Bread Ministries International, Dansoman-My Father's House. The event focused on the theme: 'Stewarding the Family's Health,' highlighting the need for a balanced approach to health that includes faith, healthy living, and professional healthcare.

Dr. Tiwaa underscored the importance of recognizing when medical intervention is necessary while maintaining trust in God for supernatural healing. She referenced biblical passages such as James 5:14-15 and Isaiah 53:5 to support the belief in divine healing but cautioned against assuming divine health is automatic. She advocated for spiritual growth through prayer, Bible study, and meditation, emphasizing the need to be spiritually prepared before facing illness or crisis.

Furthermore, Dr. Tiwaa pointed out the impact of diet, stress, and sleep on physical and mental health, encouraging families to prioritize healthy eating, regular exercise, adequate sleep, and stress management. She cited Proverbs 17:22 to emphasize the importance of maintaining a positive outlook on health.

She acknowledged the limitations of medicine and its continuous evolution, stressing that this should not deter individuals from seeking professional healthcare. Dr. Tiwaa reminded patients of their responsibility to follow medical advice and seek clarity about their conditions and treatments from healthcare professionals.

Dr. Tiwaa urged families to take proactive steps in health stewardship, which extends beyond hospital visits. She advised using reliable health information and social media cautiously for health education, promoting physical activity, making healthier food choices, and reducing sugar-sweetened beverages. She also recommended that parents stay informed about children's developmental milestones and actively engage in their physical and developmental well-being.
