Chris Hughton to handle Ghana v Angola AFCON qualifier in first task as Black Stars coach

Former Brighton & Hove Albion manager, Chris Hughton is officially taking over as the new Black Stars head coach next week.

His appointment will be confirmed by the Ghana Football Association (GFA) during the week once the government represented by the Ministry of Youth and Sports gives the go-ahead.

Information gathered indicates that on the Ghana FA side, everything has been sorted to make Chris Hughton the new national team head coach.

It is understood that he has been working in the background on players he will select for the next Black Stars in March.

Next month, the national team will return to action in the qualifiers for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament.

The double-header encounter against Angola will be the first assignment for Chris Hughton as the new Black Stars head coach.

The first of the two games will be played at the Cape Coast Stadium in Ghana on March 20.

Subsequently, Coach Chris Hughton and his squad will travel to Angola for the reverse fixture.

Meanwhile, reports indicate that Didi Dramani and George Boateng will be working with Chris Hughton as his assistant coaches.
