Chris Hughton has the qualities to manage Black Stars – Yaw Acheampong

Former Elmina Sharks coach, Yaw Acheampong had backed Chris Hughton for the vacant Black Stars coaching job.

The Black Stars has no substantive coach following the resignation of Otto Addo after the country’s poor performance at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

However, Hughton played an advisory role to Otto Addo who resigned from the Black Stars technical team after the side’s group exit at the World Cup.

Acheampong, who is a former Ghana international believes the Ex-Brighton and Hove Albion manager has enough qualities to lead the Senior National Team to success in the future.

“I think he’s well experienced and he knows the field very well. He knows the terrain very well,” he told Citi Sports.

“I believe giving him the chance with the support, again without the support one man can never do it. With the support.

“I believe he can do it. He can deliver for us.

“But we have to do it fast our problem is we always wait till the last minute before we say we are doing this.

“We have to start from now though it’s not next year we have to start preparing whatever we want to prepare from now.

“With the help of everyone I believe we can turn things around,” he added.

A new Black Stars head coach is expected to be announced before the team assembles in March 2023 for AFCON qualifiers.
