Accra:Former presidential staffer Charles Bissue has petitioned the High Court to halt his criminal trial initiated by the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP).
According to Ghana Web, Bissue's legal team is challenging the validity of the charges, describing them as defective, incurably flawed, and incompetent. The High Court in Accra is set to hear this motion on October 26, 2026.
The OSP had previously withdrawn charges against Bissue but later filed new ones. The initial trial commenced in July 2019, during which Thomas Andy Owusu, one of the accused, pleaded guilty and was subsequently convicted, while Bissue entered a not guilty plea.
Bissue, along with another accused, is facing corruption-related charges. Both have pleaded not guilty and have been granted bail by the Criminal Division of the High Court with conditions set at GHS200,000 each with two sureties, one of whom must be justified.
