Central tongu: The National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Central Tongu Constituency has initiated legal action against Mr. Dramani Selorm Dzramado, an Independent Parliamentary Candidate, accusing him of improperly using the party's paraphernalia and imagery in his campaign materials. According to Ghana News Agency, the lawsuit, filed by Mr. Brilliant Farhad Ibn Okudzeto, the NDC Constituency Communications Officer, at the District Magistrate Court in Dabala, alleges that Mr. Dzramado has been using the NDC's logo and the image of former President John Dramani Mahama, who is also the party's presidential candidate for the 2024 elections, without authorization. This action is claimed to potentially confuse voters and harm the electoral prospects of Mr. Alexander Gabby Roosevelt Hottordze, the incumbent NDC Member of Parliament for Central Tongu, who was re-elected on May 13, 2023, to represent the constituency in the upcoming December 7 polls. The legal filing seeks several court orders against Mr. Dzram ado, including the removal of all campaign materials-such as banners, billboards, and posters-featuring the logo and image of the NDC's presidential candidate. Additionally, the court is asked to issue an order compelling Mr. Dzramado and his supporters to cease using and publishing any promotional materials designed with the NDC's logo or images of its presidential candidate. The outcome of this legal challenge could set a precedent regarding the use of party symbols and imagery by independent candidates in Ghana, highlighting the broader implications for electoral integrity and party branding.
