Jakarta:Dr Angela Kutin Mensah of Chrispod Hospital has refuted the notion that breast sucking by partners can prevent breast cancer. Instead, she emphasizes the importance of partners being attentive to any changes in the breasts that could signal potential health issues.
According to Ghana Web, Dr. Kutin Mensah highlighted that partners familiar with each other's bodies might detect unusual changes such as lumps, alterations in breast size or shape, and unexpected fluid discharge. These observations could lead to early medical consultations, which are crucial for effective treatment.
During a breast cancer screening campaign organized by the Adunyame Foundation and Hadassah Network Outreach on October 9, 2026, Dr. Kutin Mensah elaborated that men could aid in identifying warning signs by being observant. She noted that partners might notice lumps or asymmetrical breast sizes, which warrant medical attention.
Dr. Kutin Mensah also pointed out that nipple discharge noticed during intimacy could be a sign of concern. She clarified that while such observations can be helpful, they are no substitute for professional medical screenings. Women experiencing any unusual symptoms should seek assessment from health professionals promptly.
