Accra: Deputy Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Dr. Justice Srem-Sai, has been captured in a viral video leaving the courtroom after the High Court delivered its judgment in the Akonta mining case involving Ashanti Regional New Patriotic Party (NPP) Chairman, Bernard Antwi-Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, and others.
According to Ghana Web, the video shared by The1957News and circulating on social media shows Dr. Justice Srem-Sai walking out of the court premises shortly after proceedings ended and being approached by journalists for his comment. Asked how he felt about the apparent state win following the sentence, Dr. Srem-Sai appeared to avoid the question. Despite the journalist's remarks about the public's recognition of his efforts, he simply stated, 'Let me just position myself.' as he made his way through a crowd eager to hear his response, ultimately heading straight to his car.
The footage comes after the conclusion of the high-profile Samreboi illegal mining case, in which Chairman Wontumi was sentenced by the High Court for offences linked to illegal mining. The case has attracted significant public attention due to its association with illegal mining activities, commonly referred to as galamsey, and the involvement of one of the NPP's prominent regional executives.
