Bono Regional EC Urges Political Parties to Follow Procedures for Election Grievances.

Sunyani: Mr Guggisberg Asirifi-Young, the Bono Regional Director of the Electoral Commission (EC), has urged political parties to adhere to established procedures for addressing and resolving election grievances. He emphasized the importance of utilizing the structures set up by the EC at various offices for filing complaints, urging all election stakeholders to channel their concerns through these laid-down procedures to ensure a smooth electoral process.

According to Ghana News Agency, Mr Asirifi-Young noted in an interview that while some election materials have been received in the region, the Biometric Verification Machines and other essential devices are still awaited for distribution to district and municipal levels. He expressed confidence in the readiness of the EC in the region for the December 7 polls, assuring that with the cooperation of all stakeholders, the elections would be conducted peacefully and successfully.

On Tuesday, November 26, 2024, representatives from various political parties g
athered at the Regional Police Headquarters in Sunyani as the EC handed over some election materials to the police for safekeeping. In interviews with the Ghana News Agency, party representatives expressed satisfaction with the electoral process so far and urged the EC to maintain transparency throughout the General Election.

Mr Henry Osei Karikari, the Bono Regional Research Officer of the New Patriotic Party, reported the discovery of minor printing errors on some election materials, which were promptly reported to the EC for correction. Meanwhile, Mr Peter Suaka, the Deputy Bono Regional Secretary for the National Democratic Congress, expressed satisfaction with the sorting of election materials and anticipated their timely distribution to constituencies for the December 7 polls.

The Ghana News Agency also reported that the police have transferred the election materials to the Sunyani West District Police Command at Odomase for secure storage.
