Bono NADMO Distributes 115 Life Jackets to Banda-Bongase Fishing Community

Banda-bongase: The Bono Regional Directorate of the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) has distributed 115 life jackets to the Banda-Bongase fishing community located in the Banda District. The event took place at a brief ceremony, where Mrs. Fati Kine Lam, Bono Regional Director of NADMO, emphasized the importance of these reflective jackets for the safety of children, fishermen, and fishmongers who frequently cross the Bui dam reservoir upstream.

According to Ghana News Agency, Mrs. Lam highlighted the government's commitment to addressing challenges faced by fishing communities across the nation, stressing that safety remains a top priority. She urged community leaders to ensure the life jackets are used correctly and consistently for their intended purpose. Mrs. Lam also called for cooperation between local chiefs, the Banda District Assembly, and other stakeholders to enforce strict safety protocols around the Bui Dam reservoir.

Mr. Peter Dongi, Banda District Chief Executive, echoed the importance of personal safety, encouraging the community to wear the life jackets whenever using the reservoir. Meanwhile, Mr. Yusif Dauda, Chairman of the local fishing committee, expressed gratitude to NADMO for their support. He assured the community's commitment to adhering to safety measures and requested additional life jackets to accommodate the approximately 2,000 people in the fishing community.
