Accra: The Bank of Ghana has dismissed claims of political affiliation in its recent engagement with a group of X (formerly Twitter) content creators over delayed payments, clarifying that the meeting was strictly financial in nature.
According to Ghana Web, the central bank issued a statement on May 4, 2026, explaining that the engagement on April 22, 2026, was focused solely on addressing concerns raised by the creators regarding delays in receiving funds. The Bank of Ghana emphasized that the meeting aimed to resolve financial issues, not political ones.
The statement detailed that the meeting was initiated by the content creators purely as stakeholders seeking a solution to a financial problem. The Bank of Ghana categorically stated that the group had no political affiliation and engaged the bank solely as concerned content creators demanding a practical resolution to a legitimate issue.
The central bank acknowledged the delays in payment, which pertain to funds classified as export proceeds. It assured that measures are being implemented to reduce delays and enhance the payment process. The Bank of Ghana is taking these concerns seriously and is working to significantly decrease the turnaround time for receiving funds.
