Babolat Tema Doubles Open Tennis scheduled for Sep. 21

Tema, This year’s Babolat Tema Doubles Open Tennis Championship, would begin at the GHACEM Club House and the Tema Oil Refinery Club House on Friday, September 21 and ends on Sunday, September 23.

About eight tennis clubs, are expected to participate in the three-day competition, which is being sponsored by Babolat Sport, Lukofson Ventures, Baboo Sport, Ecostar Environmental Services and Baboo Fitness Centre.

Mr Ismaila Lamptey, Chief Executive Officer of Baboo Fitness Centre disclosed this at the launch of the competition at Tema on Saturday.

He said Tema Oil Refinery Tennis Club, Tema Tennis Club, GHACEM Tennis Club, Sakumono Tennis Club, Regional Maritime University Tennis Club, Stadium Tennis Club and 37 Officers Mess Tennis Club would particpate in the three day event.

Mr Lamptey, extended invitation to other tennis clubs, willing to participate to register and do so.

He said the competition would be played in the categories of Social One, Social Two, Above 50 years and Under 16.

Mr Lamptey added that attractive prizes had been put in place by the organizers and urged the clubs to win them.

Meanwhile, Ismalia Lamptey of the Tema Oil Refinery Tennis Club, defeated Frank Agyemang 2-0 to win this year’s Tema Babolat Open Tennis Championship, which ended at Tema.

The one-month competition, sponsored by Babolat Sports and Tenoll Sports served as a prelude to the Tema Doubles Open.
