“Assist us to complete Amansaman Project” – Youth and Sports Minister
Accra Mr. Isaac Kwame Asiamah, Minister of Youth and Sports, has appealed to the Japanese Ambassador to Ghana, to help Ghana complete the Olympic Stadium in Amansama, Accra.
The Amansaman Project, which was to be designed into an Olympic stadium, had been at a standstill since it was initiated about 10 years ago.
Mr. Asiamah said, the project, when completed would be a legacy of the Japanese government to Ghana, as well as the discharge of a corporate social responsibility.
The minister said, as Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, was drawing closer, a delegation from Ghana would be inspecting Ghana’s camp village in Inawashiro, Japan in May.
He said, this was to ensure that Team Ghana goes through adequate pre training, which was relevant for the team to adapt and acclimatize as the country, as the country kept yearning for a gold medal in Tokyo.
The Youth and Sports Minister also called on the Japanese Ambassador to assist team Ghana’s participation by engaging Japanese companies in the country to support the dream vision.
He praised the Japanese outfit for putting out a baseball pitch at the Labone Secondary school.
Mr. Tsutomo Himeno, the Japanese Ambassador to Ghana expressed to the minister and his team for the visit.
He advised the team to inspect camping facilities in May, since it was the best period to embark on such a mission.
The minister was accompanied by Mr. Perry Okudzeto, Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports, Mr. Ben Nunoo Mensah, president of the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC), Dr. Emmanuel Owusu-Ansah of MOYS, Rev. Richmond Quarcoo, President of Ghana Baseball Albert Mensah amongst others.
