Accra: Mr. Patrick Assuah, the Assembly Member for the Asanda-Kotokro electoral area, has generously donated educational materials to graduates of the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) who participated in the 2025/2026 examinations. The donation included 85 chop boxes, 440 note and exercise books, and several Bic ball pens, as part of his 'one student, one chop box' initiative.
According to Ghana News Agency, each recipient received a chop box, five exercise books, and two Bic pens. Mr. Assuah, who also serves as the Assembly Member for Asanda-North, Kotokro Ankobra (Sanwoma), and Bobrama electoral area, noted that this initiative is aimed at alleviating the financial burden on parents as their children transition to Senior High Schools. This effort also complements the government's initiatives in secondary education. Over the past four years, Mr. Assuah has donated a total of 317 chop boxes to BECE graduates, with the numbers increasing annually.
During a presentation ceremony at Bobrama in the Ellembelle District, Mr. Wilfred Katey Adodoadji, the District Director of Education, accepted the materials on behalf of the Ghana Education Service (GES). He expressed gratitude to Mr. Assuah for his unwavering support of education in the area, encouraging the new Senior High School students to work diligently for better future prospects.
Mr. Adodoadji also addressed the less-than-satisfactory 2025/2026 BECE results in the district, urging upcoming students to strive harder for improved grades. Dr. Augustine Amoako, the Ellembelle District Director of Health Services, inspired the students to aim high and follow the example of prominent figures like Dr. Kwame Nkrumah. He cautioned against substance abuse and immoral behavior, urging students to focus on their studies.
Additionally, Mr. Florian Wolfart, Managing Director of Ankobra Beach Resort, pledged continued support for the 'one student, one chop box' initiative. He emphasized the importance of parental involvement in nurturing responsible future leaders and encouraged parents to provide robust moral guidance at home.
