Asokore-mampong: A total of 9,162 four-week-old chicks have been distributed to 195 residents in the Asokore-Mampong Municipality under the Nkoko Nkete-nkete Programme. Each recipient received 50 broiler chicks as part of efforts by the NDC government to bolster poultry production and enhance livelihoods within the community.
According to Ghana News Agency, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Mr. Ben Abdullah Alhassan, expressed his gratitude during the distribution ceremony for the leadership of President John Dramani Mahama and the trust placed in him by the people of Ghana. Mr. Alhassan emphasized that the program aims to benefit all citizens, irrespective of political affiliation, with beneficiaries selected from various communities across the municipality.
The MCE urged recipients to properly care for the chicks and to adopt innovative, sustainable poultry practices to ensure continued productivity beyond the initial support. He also recognized the farmers who raised the day-old chicks to the four-week stage, acknowledging their professionalism and dedication as key to the initiative's success.
Mr. Alhassan commended the Ministry of Food and Agriculture, the Asokore-Mampong Agriculture office, and all officers and partners whose efforts contributed to the project's successful implementation. The program represents a significant step toward strengthening livelihoods, boosting food security, and empowering farmers in the Asokore-Mampong municipality.
Several beneficiaries expressed their gratitude to Ghana News Agency for the initiative, hoping it would significantly improve household poultry farming in the area.
