Asiedu Nketiah Advocates for Increased Church Involvement in Mission Schools

Sekyedumase:National Democratic Congress (NDC) National Chairman Johnson Asiedu Nketiah has expressed support for the Christian Council of Ghana's proposal for religious bodies to have a more significant role in managing mission-founded schools.

According to Ghana Web, Asiedu Nketiah made these remarks during the launch of a College of Education project, part of the centenary celebrations of the Seventh-day Adventist (SDA) Church. He emphasized that allowing churches to have a greater say in school management could lead to increased investment in educational infrastructure by these religious organizations.

He pointed out that the primary motivation behind religious bodies investing in educational institutions is to ensure that children are raised in alignment with their faith's core beliefs and disciplines.

The involvement of religious organizations in the management of Ghana's mission schools has been a topic of ongoing national debate. Currently, the government funds teachers and infrastructure, while missions maintain their founding interests and manage the schools' discipline and religious ethos.
