Ashanti Regional NSS Director apologises to nurse he abused on Facebook

Accra, Nov. 29, GNA – Mr Alex Opoku Mensah,Ashanti Regional Director , National Service Scheme (NSS), has apologised for abusing a nurse at the Manhyia hospital in the Ashanti Region.

Mr Mensah, is the father of the House Officer who had a misunderstanding with the nurse at the hospital. Iit is alleged that the nurse corrected his daughter’s wrong prescription for a two year old convulsion patient.

Mr Mensah in a facebook post said “I understand the disappointment and appreciate the inconvenience my action has caused the general public as well as the Nursing fraternity and Manhyia Hospital.

” This has never been my style, but for a genuine reason to mediate a persistent issue between my daughter(Doctor) and a colleague nurse who I as well consider my daughter, I do apologize for any mishap and assure all, there shall not be a repetition of such, ” he said.

Mr Mensah said he looked forward to maintaining a cordial relationship between any affected person.

The Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association (GRNMA) ealier today in reaction to the assult called for the immediate dismissal of Mr. Alex Poku Mensah, Ashanti Regional Director of the National Service Scheme.

The GRNMA in a release issued in Accra on Tuesday, said nurses and midwives of Manhyia Hospital would be called upon to lay down their tools, followed by the whole of Ashanti Region and then it would be escalated to the whole nation if the Government did not relieve Mr. Alex Poku Mensah of his duty as Ashanti Regional Director of the National Service Scheme (NSS) within 72 hours.
