Drobo: Mrs Joyce Asare Bediako, the Election 2024 Parliamentary Candidate (PC) for the National Democratic Party (NDP) in the Jaman South Constituency of the Bono Region, has committed to making agriculture more appealing to the youth if she secures victory on December 7. Her plans were unveiled during a parliamentary dialogue organized by the Jaman South Municipal Directorate of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) at Drobo, providing a platform for candidates to share their visions with the electorate.
According to Ghana News Agency, Mrs Bediako emphasized her intention to collaborate closely with traditional leaders to acquire land for large-scale farming projects. This initiative aims to generate employment opportunities for young people in the area. Additionally, she pledged to provide financial support to farmers, enabling them to expand their agricultural activities.
The dialogue, however, witnessed the absence of Mr Williams Okofo Darteh, the incumbent Member of Parliament and National
Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate, and Colonel Kwadwo Damoah (Rtd), the New Patriotic Party (NPP) candidate. Mrs Bediako highlighted the importance of motivating unemployed youth to engage in crop farming and animal husbandry by offering modern farm inputs and equipment. She proposed collaborating with agro-chemical shops and input dealers to provide subsidies for farming inputs and plans to establish farmers’ cooperatives to offer financial support to farmers.
In addition to her agricultural initiatives, Mrs Bediako outlined her vision for improving education, healthcare, and road infrastructure within the constituency. Meanwhile, Mr Emmanuel Oduro, the Jaman South Municipal Director of NCCE, urged political parties in the region to prioritize tolerance during the election period.
