Kumasi: Asante Kotoko head coach Eric Tinkler has praised the performance of his players against Hearts of Oak in their Democracy Cup triumph. The Porcupine Warriors defeated their bitter rivals 4-1 on penalties after a goalless draw on Friday to claim the 2026 Democracy Cup at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium. According to Ghana Web, speaking in a post-match interview, Eric Tinkler shared his delight about the performance of his players, although he admits they should have been more efficient in front of goal. "I'm very pleased with the performance. I thought for the majority of the game we had the ascendancy. I think the guys did exceptionally well. We played against a tough team. We dealt with them really well," Tinkler said. The win means Eric Tinkler and his lads will go into the new season with a lot of confidence. The Porcupine Warriors missed out on any domestic trophy last season but will hope to change the narrative at the end of the 2026/27 campaign.
