Asanko Gold Secures $400 Million Local Content Deal with Rabotec

Accra: Asanko Gold Ghana Limited has signed a $400 million contract with indigenous mining services firm Rabotec Ghana Limited, in a move aimed at deepening local participation and creating thousands of jobs in the country's mining sector. The agreement, announced at a contract signing ceremony on March 30, 2026, marks a new phase in the long-standing partnership between the two companies and underscores efforts to retain more value within Ghana's economy.

According to Ghana Web, the deal reflects Asanko Gold's commitment to Ghana's Local Content agenda. Executive Vice President and Managing Director of Asanko Gold Ghana, Dr. Charles Amoah, highlighted that the partnership is expected to generate approximately 3,000 direct jobs and 5,000 indirect jobs, while strengthening local participation across the mining value chain. Dr. Amoah stated that the focus is on creating jobs, building skills, and empowering Ghanaian businesses to meet industry standards.

Rabotec, a Ghanaian-owned mining services provider, has collaborated with Asanko for over 11 years, evolving from smaller assignments to large-scale operations. The latest contract builds on Rabotec's strong performance over the past two years. Dr. Amoah emphasized that the partnership goes beyond employment, focusing on long-term skills development and sustainable economic impact.

He reiterated Asanko's commitment to safety, environmental standards, and regulatory compliance, describing these aspects as non-negotiable in its operations. Asanko is dedicated to safe, responsible, and profitable gold production. Beyond operations, the company will continue investing in host communities through initiatives in education, agriculture, and local development to ensure mining benefits extend beyond the life of the mine.
