To commemorate World Milk Day, Arla foods has organized a ‘milky treat’ event for the Kotobabi Cluster of Schools and selected basic schools nationwide.
World Milk Day, established by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations in 2001, is to recognize the importance of milk as global food and to raise public awareness of the crucial role Milk plays in our lives.
Speaking at the program, Mr. Vytautas Petronis, stated that Arla Foods is committed to providing the Ghanaian consumer with high-quality products that will empower and give them mental and physical strength. He highlighted the importance of “paying critical attention to sustainability in the dairy sector, our environment, and socio-economic activities.”
“At Arla Foods, sustainability means striking the balance between a stronger planet and a stronger people. We need to manage the growing demands for nutrition,” he emphasized.
On his part, Mr. Wilson Agbeko, Marketing Manager of Arla Foods, speaking on this year’s theme of World Milk Day, achieving ‘Dairy Net Zero’, said, “At Arla, we believe that protecting the environment is essential to producing products that support a nutritious, sustainable diet and we are taking action through our Stronger Planet and Enabling Stronger People initiatives.“
Key to our Enabling stronger People initiative is the promotion of a sustainable diet, and an important aspect of this is Health and nutrition. According to the UN’s FAO and the world health Organisation, dairy and for that reason, Milk can be part of a sustainable diet. Arla food is committed to making dairy (milk) even more sustainable by producing products that retain their health effects and rich nutritional profile.
He revealed Arla’s purpose for the World Milk Day initiative: “We want to inspire our brothers and sisters and staff of Kotobabi Cluster of Schools, as well as pupils and teachers in the schools we are visiting across the country, to choose health and nutrition.”
Deputy Headmistress of the Kotobabi Cluster of Schools was grateful to Arla Foods for choosing to celebrate the day with them. She thanked the company on behalf of all the other basic schools that enjoyed similar privileges.
Arla Foods Donated some Dano milk to the school, and the children to take home.
