Kraboa (E/R), July 14, GNA – Nana Attah Darko Ohemaa Oforiwah, the Odikro and the Queen Mother of Kraboa, has cut the sod for the construction of the Coaltar Resource and Empowerment Centre.

In an interview with the Ghana News Agency, Mr. Emmanuel Kwafo Mintah, the Project Director of Ark Development Organization, thanked the Australian High Commission Direct Aid Programme for supporting the Project.

He said the project came about because the district has gender issues which has significant implications on development and requires urgent attention.

These include low levels of knowledge in ICT, poor basic education performance, lack of knowledge in sexual and reproductive health, lack of vocational and technical skills for young people (Ayensuano District Profile, 2020).

He said, the Coaltar Resource and Empowerment Centre Project, seeks to construct a Resource and Empowerment Centre with ICT Unit, a Library unit, and Sexual and Reproductive Health unit to render counselling services for adolescent and a classroom for informal education to ensure that school drop outs are reintegrated into the formal educational system.

In all, the project aims to promote an enabling environment for increasing ICT knowledge and help improve the educational performance of children in Kraboa Coaltar and surrounding communities.

Speaking at the programme, Mr Emmanuel Ofori, the Assembly Member for Kraboa Electoral Area, said the project was a community self-help project, which is being supported by the Australian High Commission in Ghana and being implemented by Ark Development Organization.

Mr Teddy Safori Addi pledged to provide computers for the ICT Unit and advised parents to put the education and development of their children at heart.
