London:Andy Dosty, a well-known media personality and disc jockey, has spoken out after being named in an alleged visa fraud scandal linked to the 2026 FIFA World Cup in the United States. The controversy arose after the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) submitted a list of 50 names to the US Embassy as media personnel expected to cover the event.
According to Ghana Web, concerns were raised by the Minority in Parliament when it was discovered that only two people on the list, including Andy Dosty and Philip Narh, were verified as actual media practitioners. The remaining 48 individuals reportedly lacked professional media backgrounds. The revelation came after the US Embassy's Fraud Prevention Unit conducted due diligence on the submitted names.
Reacting to the situation, Andy Dosty expressed surprise at finding his name on the list. In an interview on Asempa FM, he clarified that he had not benefited from any arrangements involving the National Sports Authority (NSA) or the GTA for the World Cup. He speculated that his connection to the issue might stem from his friendship with Nana Gyimah, CEO of Tribe Culture Fest, whose company was also mentioned in the alleged scandal.
Andy Dosty explained that Gyimah, whom he had known for four years, was his usual contact for visa renewals. A request made in March 2026 was delayed due to Gyimah's involvement with the NSA's list. Months later, while in London, Dosty was asked by Gyimah to contact the GTA CEO as they were compiling a list for the World Cup, which left him puzzled about his inclusion.
The media personality denied involvement in the alleged fraud, emphasizing that his visa was independently secured and could be verified by the US Embassy. He expressed concern about the potential harm to his reputation and considered legal consultation to address the situation.
Andy Dosty challenged any implication of benefiting from arrangements with the NSA, GTA, or Tribe Culture, asserting that he personally handled his visa fees and appointment scheduling, with evidence to support his claims.
