Accra: The Ministry of Finance announced that all 6,300 staff members of the Ghana Education Service (GES), who were recruited in 2024 without financial clearance, have received their outstanding salaries. The Ministry addressed an appeal from the Coalition of Unpaid Newly Posted Staff of the GES concerning overdue salary arrears.
According to Ghana News Agency, the Government inherited these 6,300 GES staff members in 2025, following their recruitment the previous year without the necessary financial clearance. In response, the Ministry of Finance secured Cabinet approval and issued the required financial clearance to facilitate the payment process for the affected staff.
The Ministry's statement detailed that the payments were completed in four tranches, as part of efforts to resolve the salary issues faced by the staff. The statement confirmed that all staff covered under this arrangement have been paid, and there are currently no outstanding requests for financial clearance from the GES pending action by the Ministry of Finance.
The Ministry clarified that the salary payment process for the 6,300 staff has been finalized. Any staff member with unresolved salary or arrears issues is advised to contact the GES for assistance, as these issues may pertain to payroll or administrative matters requiring the GES's attention.
The statement encouraged affected staff to engage directly with the Service to resolve any individual concerns regarding their salaries or arrears. This clarification aims to provide accurate information regarding the salary payments and the role of the Ministry of Finance in the resolution process.
