Akatsi: The Akatsi South Municipal Assembly in the Volta Region has announced significant progress in infrastructure development across the Municipality. Mr. Daniel Dagba, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), reported that several projects had been completed while new ones had been commissioned to enhance education, health, and local commerce.
According to Ghana News Agency, Mr. Dagba, during his address at the Second Ordinary Meeting of the Third Session of the Second Assembly held at the Assembly Hall, highlighted the completion of classroom blocks in several communities including Torgodo, Zuta, Glikpome, Alorkpa, Dzuepe, Wodome, and Duowodome. In the health sector, the Assembly had undertaken the construction of Community-based Health Planning Services (CHPS) compounds with nurses' accommodations at Zuta and Ahlepdo and the renovation of the Wute Health Centre.
Mr. Dagba also mentioned that projects previously abandoned under CODA had been incorporated into the Government's legacy projects, with optimism expressed towards their imminent completion. New contracts have been awarded for the construction of market sheds at Akatsi Main Market, the renovation of the MCE's residence, renovation of the Agric Department, and construction of a medical laboratory at Atidzive.
Furthermore, Mr. Dagba outlined additional projects, including the completion of classroom blocks at Lume Avete, reroofing of Afatsagbleve school block, construction of nurses' accommodation at Atidzive, renovation of VIP sheds at Akatsi Main Market, completion of a bungalow at Akatsi, and pavement of the lorry park at Accra Station in Akatsi.
He emphasized that the Assembly's infrastructure initiatives align with the government's reset agenda, which has already delivered boreholes, road rehabilitation, and market facilities throughout the Municipality. The Assembly remains dedicated to enhancing living conditions and fostering socio-economic growth through sustained infrastructure development.
