Volivo: Mr John Ajet-Nasam, a lawyer and philanthropist, has funded the tiling of the delivery ward and painting of the Volivo Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) Compound in the Eastern Region to improve healthcare delivery. The intervention is to provide a more conducive environment for both patients and healthcare workers at the facility.
According to Ghana News Agency, during a brief ceremony, Mr Ajet-Nasam expressed that his gesture was inspired by a desire to support communities and contribute to enhancing healthcare services. He attributed his decision to undertake the project to values instilled by his mother and his Christian faith. He emphasized that his efforts were from personal resources, and his actions were meant to glorify God.
Mr Ajet-Nasam shared that a previous visit to the facility revealed challenges with its infrastructure, motivating him to offer support. He expressed gratitude to the staff and community members for their supervision and commitment, which ensured the project's successful completion. He pledged ongoing support to the facility and consideration of additional requests to improve healthcare delivery at the CHPS compound.
Mr John Mensah, the Physician Assistant and Director of the Volivo Sub-District CHPS Compound, thanked Mr Ajet-Nasam for his intervention and assured that the facility would maintain the improvements. He noted that proper maintenance would prevent the recurrence of previous conditions. The facility operates with one delivery bed and records an average of three deliveries monthly, referring patients to higher-level facilities when necessary.
Ms Belinda Anku, the Midwife in Charge of the Volivo CHPS Compound, also commended Mr Ajet-Nasam for his support. She highlighted that the tiling and painting enhanced the facility's appearance and working environment. Ms Anku appealed for further assistance to address other needs, particularly in acquiring equipment to enhance maternal and child healthcare services.
Community members at the event praised the philanthropist and encouraged other individuals and organizations to support healthcare facilities in rural areas.
