Weija-gbawe: The Member of Parliament for the Weija-Gbawe Constituency, Jerry Ahmed Shaib, has initiated the construction of a new emergency block at the Weija-Gbawe Municipal Hospital, also known as Akawe Hospital. Speaking at the ceremony, Shaib highlighted the project's importance and the urgent need for an enhanced emergency care facility in the area.
According to Ghana Web, Shaib expressed concern over the current state of the hospital's emergency unit, noting that it fails to provide a conducive environment for patients. He stated that the new facility is crucial to address the inadequacies in the existing infrastructure. The MP disclosed that the project primarily relies on his personal funding due to the inadequacy of the District Assembly Common Fund (DACF).
The planned emergency block will include a 25-bed male ward, a 25-bed female ward, consulting rooms, a pharmacy, a lab, and an ambulance bay. This facility aims to enhance healthcare services in the constituency by delivering quality emergency care in a structured environment.
Shaib criticized the government's decision not to utilize the Weija Gbawe Children's Hospital, built by the previous administration, suggesting it as a missed opportunity to improve healthcare services. He urged the government to prioritize healthcare maintenance and utilization for the community's benefit.
The MP assured the community that he is committed to completing the project swiftly, despite financial challenges. He thanked the people of Weija-Gbawe for their support and recognized the hospital staff for their dedication to providing quality healthcare.
