Amasaman: Evangelist Patricia Asiedua, widely recognized as Nana Agradaa, appeared before the Amasaman Circuit Court on January 21, 2026, to contest her 15-year imprisonment sentence. During the hearing, Agradaa was seen with a white handkerchief inscribed with '1 John 5:4-10,' a biblical passage.
According to Ghana Web, the Bible verse written on Agradaa's handkerchief emphasizes faith and overcoming the world through belief in Jesus as the Son of God. This act of personal expression occurred amidst her ongoing legal proceedings, where her appeal has been postponed to February 5, 2026.
Nana Agradaa's legal team stated that the court instructed both parties to submit their written addresses. However, the Attorney-General's office sought more time, citing the unpreparedness of their address. The evangelist was escorted by prison officers and accompanied by her husband, Angel Asiamah, during her court appearance.
Currently serving her sentence at the Nsawam Female Prison, Agradaa was convicted by an Accra Circuit Court on July 3, 2025, for charges of charlatanic advertising and defrauding by false pretenses. The charges stemmed from her alleged promotion of a money-doubling scheme, which deceived more than 1,000 attendees who handed over significant sums of money during a church service, only to find the promises unfulfilled.
Prosecutors highlighted her activities on Today's TV and various social media outlets, where she advertised the fraudulent scheme, enticing the public with assurances of spiritual intervention to double their money. In her appeal, Agradaa contends that her trial was unjust, the evidence was insufficient for a conviction, and the imposed sentence was excessively harsh.
