African Leaders Urged to Unlock Youth Potential for Economic Transformation

Accra: The First Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Mr. Benard Ahiafor, has called on African leaders to establish environments conducive to the development of young people's potential. "Across Africa and around the world, we are witnessing a new generation of business leaders who are redefining what is possible by harnessing technology to create solutions," he stated. Mr. Ahiafor emphasized the need for leaders to foster environments where innovation is encouraged, enterprise is rewarded, and investment and partnerships are nurtured. According to Ghana News Agency, Mr. Ahiafor made these remarks while inaugurating the two-day 12th WCI Forum Ghana 2026 in Accra, organized by 10G GlobalTech Ghana. The forum gathered business leaders, policymakers, diplomats, entrepreneurs, investors, and development partners from Ghana, Turkey, and beyond, aiming to promote investment, innovation, trade partnerships, and sustainable economic development. He highlighted the importance of people as a nation's greatest asset and the role of transformational ideas in building the future. Mr. Ahiafor noted the strong diplomatic relations between Ghana and Turkey, which have led to expanded trade, investment opportunities, and valued partnerships across various sectors. These partnerships not only drive economic transformation but also create jobs, empower entrepreneurs, and strengthen local industries. He underscored Parliament's commitment to policies and legislative frameworks that promote economic growth, attract investment, encourage entrepreneurship, and deepen international cooperation. The First Deputy Speaker stressed that future economic prosperity hinges on building bridges across nations, connecting markets, facilitating innovation, and creating cross-border opportunities. He praised the forum as a platform for dialogue, learning, and forging partnerships that unlock new opportunities for trade, investment, industrial growth, and sustainable development. Mr. Huseyin Gungor, the Turkish Ambassador to Ghana, recognized the busi ness potential in Ghana and encouraged small and medium enterprises to collaborate with Turkish businesses. Mr. Anil Utku Bengisu, President of WCI, highlighted the forum as a venue for partnerships, investment, and success stories, reflecting on his 12-year journey with the WCI Forum in Ghana, emphasizing the collaboration between Ghana and Turkey.
