Accra: A former Asante Mampong Member of Parliament and two-time flagbearer aspirant for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Ing Addai Nimo, has expressed his belief that Awentami Paul Afoko is the candidate who can effectively unite the party during its ongoing reorganization efforts.
According to Ghana Web, Addai Nimo emphasized that Afoko, having endured challenging experiences within the party, is well-positioned to reach out to aggrieved members and bring them back into the party's fold. Addressing NPP delegates in the Upper West Region, he shared his confidence in Afoko's ability to mend internal rifts. He suggested that Afoko's narrative of overcoming party challenges could inspire those disillusioned to return, saying, "if we give him the mandate, he can go to those our brothers and sisters who are aggrieved and they are sitting somewhere."
Addai Nimo highlighted that the NPP's primary issue lies within its internal dynamics rather than external opposition. He believes that a unified party will face fewer obstacles in regaining power. "The problem is not NDC, the problem is we, the internal people. We have not treated ourselves well," he remarked. He insisted that Afoko's return to a leadership role is crucial, given his capability to reclaim lost seats, especially as the NPP currently lacks representation in some regions.
Afoko has been actively visiting constituencies to promote his vision of reuniting, rebuilding, and returning the NPP to power under his "3Rs Agenda." His campaign emphasizes the slogan, "One NPP, One People," focusing on grassroots empowerment. He advocates for enhancing the welfare, logistics, and inclusion of polling station executives, constituency executives, and the broader party base in decision-making processes. Afoko positions himself as the leader who can effectively reorganize the NPP following the 2024 election setback.
