According to Ghana Web, Afena-Gyan put in an impressive shift, earning a match rating of 6.4, and was substituted in injury time in a pulsating 3-3 away draw. The point earned helped Amedspor secure a second-place finish in the Turkish second tier, claiming one of the two automatic promotion spots.
Amedspor ended the campaign on 74 points, seven behind champions Erzurumspor, and level with Erokspor, edging them on the head-to-head rule to seal promotion. Afena-Gyan scored five goals in 35 league appearances, marking a successful loan spell.
