Accra: The lead investigator of the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO), Frank Marshal Cromwell, has informed the Accra High Court that he cannot produce any Auditor-General's report identifying the alleged diversion or misappropriation of GHS49.1 million in the trial involving former Director-General of the National Signals Bureau (NSB), Kwabena Adu-Boahene.
According to Ghana Web, under cross-examination by the defense counsel, Samuel Atta Akyea, Cromwell, known as PW4 in court proceedings, admitted his inability to point to any audit report from the Auditor-General that captured the alleged misuse, diversion, or misappropriation of the GHS49.1 million or any part of it. This revelation emerged during the trial session held on Monday, July 27, 2026.
Counsel Atta Akyea questioned the witness, asking, "Can you point to any Auditor-General's report that featured the alleged misappropriation or diversion of the sum of GHS49.1 million or any part of it?" To which Cromwell responded, "I cannot point to any such report."
Further questioning by the defense revealed that Cromwell also could not produce any Auditor-General's report relating to the National Security Coordinator's account at Fidelity Bank, which the prosecution had linked to the disputed transaction. Atta Akyea inquired, "Can you point to any Auditor-General's report that touches on the Coordinator's account - NSC with account number 1070030677849 during the relevant period?" Cromwell replied, "I cannot point to any such report."
This testimony directly contradicts the Attorney-General's argument that there has been a diversion of public funds. It also corroborates the earlier testimony of Edith Ruby Adumuah, Head of Finance of the BNC, who stated that there had been no audit findings, adverse findings, or financial malfeasance, asserting that she would have been aware if such issues existed.
The court has adjourned the case to Wednesday, July 29, 2026, at 9:30 am for the continuation of the cross-examination of the fourth and final prosecution witness.
