Abease: The Abease Traditional Council in the Pru West District of the Bono East Region has donated a variety of food items to the Abease Senior High School (SHS) to support the students' nourishment.
According to Ghana News Agency, the donation included 200 tubers of yams, five gallons of cooking oil, a bag of beans, five bags of rice, pieces of canned tomato paste, and an undisclosed sum of money. At a short ceremony held at the school's premises in the farming community of Abease, Obrempong Kru Takyi II, the Paramount Chief of the Abease Traditional Area and President of the Bono East Regional House of Chiefs, urged the school authorities to utilize the items appropriately for feeding the students.
He highlighted that the school's recent upgrade to a boarding status has introduced several challenges, such as insufficient infrastructure and water issues. He acknowledged that the government alone could not address all of the school's emerging challenges and called upon the natives of Abease, both local and abroad, as well as affluent individuals, to support the school. Obrempong Takyi also encouraged parents and guardians to prioritize investing in the education of their children and wards.
Mr. Samuel Dornas Mporha, the Headmaster of the School, expressed gratitude to the council for their assistance. He noted that the donated items would significantly alleviate the school's feeding challenges and appealed to corporate bodies for additional support.
