Ada:The Paramount Chief of the Ada Traditional Area, Nene Abram Kabu Akuaku III, has revoked the authority of the Chief of Matsekope, Nene Ayiku Adjovu I, due to alleged insubordination. This action follows the Matsekope chief's reported failure to respond to multiple invitations to appear before the Ada paramountcy to address a dispute.
According to Ghana Web, the issue arose from a complaint about Nene Ayiku Adjovu I's insubordination and an alleged land sale in Matsekope. The Paramount Chief had referred the matter for resolution to a committee consisting of several divisional chiefs, including Nene Okumo IV, Nene Kpevu Brempong IV, Nene Adela Haviatse Vleh II, and Asafoatsengua Okisseh Asiedu Agbloe VI.
The letter, signed by Nomo Jonathan Dokusto, Secretary and Recorder of the Ada Paramountcy, claims that Nene Ayiku Adjovu I failed to attend the meetings without providing any explanation or apology. This absence is described as disrespectful to the Paramount Chief and the Ada Traditional Council, violating the chief's customary oath.
As a result, the Ada Paramount Chief has instructed that Nene Ayiku Adjovu I should not act or present himself under the authority of the Paramount Chief or the paramount stool. Any previously delegated authority to the Matsekope chief has been withdrawn, and the Paramount Chief will not engage with him on matters requiring recognition or authority from the paramount stool until the dispute is resolved. These directives are interim measures pending the final determination of the issue.
