24-Hour Economy Secretariat Extends LePIP Application Deadline to 2026

Accra:The 24-Hour Economy and Accelerated Export Development Programme Secretariat has announced an extension for the submission of Expressions of Interest (EOI) for the Legon Pharmaceutical Innovation Park (LePIP). The new deadline for prospective tenants is set for October 31, 2026.

According to Ghana News Agency, the extension aims to provide additional time for pharmaceutical manufacturers and other businesses interested in establishing operations within the pharmaceutical and life sciences industrial park located in the Greater Accra Region.

The LePIP is a flagship project under the 24-Hour Economy Programme, envisioned as a 2,000-acre industrial ecosystem beginning with a 40-hectare pilot pharmaceutical manufacturing platform within the Osudoku/Ningo Prampram enclave. The project aims to enhance local pharmaceutical manufacturing, reduce reliance on imported medicines, attract investments, expand exports, and create sustainable employment opportunities.

The park is designed to offer an integrated industrial environment for activities such as pharmaceutical manufacturing, research and development, quality assurance, logistics, and related services. Planned facilities include reliable power and water supply, shared utilities, centralized quality control, testing laboratories, warehousing, cold-chain facilities, environmental management systems, regulatory support, and digital infrastructure.

The first phase of the project is expected to create over 3,000 direct jobs, with an estimated 30,000 additional jobs in subsequent phases. Additionally, several thousand indirect employment opportunities are anticipated in areas such as manufacturing, packaging, logistics, engineering, research, and related services.

A Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Centre of Excellence will also be established in partnership with the University of Ghana to strengthen industry skills development and supply over 1,000 skilled workers to the pharmaceutical industry within its first five years. The Secretariat encourages eligible businesses and prospective tenants to submit their EOIs before the revised deadline.
