This victory allowed Ghana to finish the group stage with four points, surpassing Canada and securing a spot in the knockout phase.

According to Ghana News Agency, Coach Joe Nana Adarkwa's team displayed determination throughout the match. Jessica Appiah came close to scoring in the first half with a solo effort, which was denied by Canadian goalkeeper Megan Lemieux. The breakthrough arrived in the second half following strategic substitutions by the Ghana coach.

Hajara Adam's looping pass led to a scramble in the Canadian box, resulting in Priscilla Mensah assisting Linda Achiaa, who scored 35 seconds after entering the game. The final goal was netted in stoppage time by Christiana Ashiaku, sealing the victory and sparking celebrations.

The Black Maidens progressed after overcoming an initial 3-0 loss to Norway and a 3-3 draw with Brazil. They are set to face Argentina on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, in the Round of 16.
