Weta:Mr. Johnson Asiedu Nketia, National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has called on aspirants in the party's constituency executive elections to embrace the outcomes and collaborate to fortify the party.
According to Ghana News Agency, the elections, conducted across 276 constituencies nationwide, are internal party affairs necessitating fairness, neutrality, and unity among members. Mr. Nketia, speaking at the Ketu North Constituency Delegates Conference at Weta in the Volta Region, emphasized the importance of refraining from influencing delegates' choices, maintaining neutrality to reconcile members post-elections and unify the party, irrespective of results.
Mr. Nketia highlighted that his role as National Chairman prohibits him from showing favoritism, as supporting specific candidates could hinder his ability to unify the party. He urged aspirants who did not secure positions not to view the outcome as a rejection, stressing that only one person can occupy a position at a time and that there are opportunities to serve in the future.
He further encouraged delegates to let the best candidates prevail and appealed to all aspirants to accept results in good faith, noting that the success of the elections is determined not only by who wins but also by the cooperation between winners and losers afterward. Mr. Nketia expressed confidence that the NDC would emerge stronger from the elections, ultimately benefiting from a united membership.
