Premiere of Documentary on Obuasi SHTS Allegations Delayed Due to Technical Issues

Obuasi:Investigative journalist Manasseh Azure Awuni has announced the delay of his documentary, *Inside the Dreaded Headmaster's Bungalow*, due to technical challenges at JoyNews.

According to Ghana Web, the documentary was set to premiere at 9 pm on Monday, October 19, 2026, on the JoyNews YouTube channel. However, Manasseh informed his audience via Facebook that the premiere could not proceed as planned because of these issues.

In his post, Manasseh apologized for the inconvenience and promised to share the link on his Facebook page once the documentary becomes available. He did not provide further details about the technical challenges or specify a new release time.

The documentary investigates allegations of sexual harassment, assault, and rape involving female students of Obuasi Senior High Technical School (SHTS) in the Ashanti Region and its headmaster, Zakaria Abdulai. The investigative report, led by Manasseh, indicates that complaints were made to authorities months before the headmaster's suspension.

The investigation revealed that initially, five students came forward with allegations, which later increased to 16. It also questioned how the complaints were managed by school authorities and education officials. There were claims of influential individuals intervening in earlier cases, though some accused parties disputed these allegations.

In response to the documentary's findings, Education Minister Haruna Iddrisu ordered the suspension of Abdulai pending a full investigation and requested the involvement of the Ghana Police Service's Criminal Investigation Department. Abdulai has not commented on the allegations, citing the ongoing investigations.

Additionally, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has reportedly asked Abdulai to withdraw from a race for a party chairperson position or face disqualification, given his current status as the party's secretary for the Juaben Constituency in the Ashanti Region.
