Kumasi:In the days leading up to 3 October 2026, the city was bustling with activity as the New Patriotic Party (NPP) prepared for its national conference. Billboards of candidates adorned the roads leading to the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, while delegates from across the 16 regions and external branches gathered in nearby hostels. More than 7,000 delegates were set to vote for nine national positions, culminating in the election of John Boadu as National Chairman and the re-election of Justin Kodua Frimpong as General Secretary.
According to Ghana Web, during this period, Michael Ampadu, known as Emotion and the Communications Officer for the NPP UK Branch, embarked on a media tour to bring attention to the branch's activities. His tour began on 28 September and continued through the conference, aiming to extend the branch's reach beyond its usual audience. Ampadu appeared on multiple television and radio stations, including Onua TV, Oman FM, and Wontumi TV, among others.
The media tour coincided with significant news in Ghana, such as large cocaine seizures and political controversies. Ampadu addressed these issues, emphasizing the damage to Ghana's reputation and calling for accountability from institutions involved in the cocaine scandal. He also commented on the attempted arrest of an NPP MP, suggesting it was a diversion from the cocaine issues.
Ampadu's appearances aimed to highlight the NPP UK's perspective on national matters, making the diaspora's voice heard during the party's leadership selection. His efforts underscored the importance of maintaining a visible and consistent presence in Ghanaian media, especially with the 2028 elections approaching.
