Accra:According to Ghana Web, the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the Pre-Tertiary Teachers Association of Ghana (Pre-TAG), Nana Richard Owusu Asumadu, has issued a warning that teachers may initiate a six-month strike if the government fails to fulfill its financial commitments to them.
Asumadu expressed his dissatisfaction during an interview on Opemsuo Radio, highlighting the government's unfulfilled promises to teachers. He emphasized that teachers are unwilling to continue their duties if these issues remain unresolved.
He urged teachers who have received their September salaries to save some funds in preparation for the possible prolonged industrial action. Asumadu pointed out that teachers are prepared to abstain from work if their demands are not met, emphasizing the seriousness of the situation.
He also expressed concern over the financial struggles faced by teachers, including those nearing retirement, and criticized the lack of implementation of promises made to them. Asumadu's statements underline the potential for a lengthy strike if the government does not address the payment concerns.
