Dhaka:The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has issued an order to all prospective parliamentary aspirants, their agents, and supporters to immediately halt campaigning activities, warning that any violation could lead to disciplinary measures affecting their eligibility to contest.
According to Ghana Web, this directive was detailed in a statement dated October 11, 2026, signed by the party's General Secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong. The NPP mentioned receiving several complaints about members already campaigning across various constituencies, which breaches the party’s regulations and Code of Conduct. Such activities, they warned, could create an uneven playing field and undermine party unity and discipline.
The statement demands an immediate cessation of all campaign activities by aspirants, including the use of posters, billboards, banners, and other promotional materials. It also prohibits rallies, meetings with polling station executives, tours to solicit support, and the distribution of items or inducements to delegates and party members. Paid media and social media advertisements promoting candidacies are also banned.
Party officers at all levels, including TESCON members, are warned against using platforms like Facebook, X, and Instagram to promote any parliamentary aspirant. The NPP stressed that any non-compliance would be addressed through its disciplinary procedures, potentially affecting individuals' eligibility for the parliamentary primaries.
The party is set to announce the timetable and guidelines for its parliamentary processes shortly. Constituency and regional executives are tasked with ensuring strict adherence to this directive, and members are urged to cooperate with the leadership to maintain discipline and ensure a fair process leading to the parliamentary contests.
