Tarkwa:A 26-year-old labourer, Nuredeen Issaka, has been sentenced by the Tarkwa Circuit Court to three years of hard labour for stealing money from his employer at Essamang Kakraba in the Tarkwa Nsuaem Municipality. He pleaded guilty to charges of stealing and unlawful entry.
According to Ghana News Agency, the case was prosecuted by Police Detective Chief Inspector Bright Nkansah. The complainant, Abdul Rauf Usif, is the sales manager of Mumud Atiiga enterprise, which deals in motorcycles and tricycles. On March 20, 2026, he received GHS123,000.00 from a customer to purchase three tricycles.
As the tricycles were not immediately available, Usif stored the money in his room at the company's premises. On April 21, 2026, he discovered the money had been stolen from his backpack. To identify the thief, Usif used his mobile phone to secretly record activities in the room.
The recording revealed Nuredeen going through the bag and stealing GHS120.00. This convinced Usif of Nuredeen's involvement, leading him to report the incident to the police. Nuredeen was apprehended on April 25, 2026, and confessed to the theft.
Investigations showed that Nuredeen sent GHS61,000.00 to Alhaji Mahmud, GHS22,000.00 to Illiasu Yahaya, and GHS17,103.00 to another person. Mahmud and Yahaya returned GHS61,000.00 and GHS22,000.00, respectively. Nuredeen claimed to have spent some of the money on food and clothes.
The court has ordered Nuredeen to refund GHS40,000.00 to the complainant as part of the ruling.
