Jakarta:Mussa Dankwah, Executive Director of Global InfoAnalytics, discussed the potential impact of Bernard Antwi Boasiako, also known as Chairman Wontumi, not participating in the New Patriotic Party (NPP) national chairmanship race. Dankwah suggested that Wontumi's entry could have altered the election result, possibly allowing Boakye Agyarko to win.
According to Ghana Web, Dankwah noted that Wontumi's involvement might have divided the votes among candidates with similar support bases, influencing the distribution of delegates' votes. He mentioned that combining the votes of Boakye Agyarko and Paul Afoko could have surpassed those of the eventual winner, indicating that a strategic alliance could have changed the outcome.
He further explained that the supporters of Agyarko and Afoko share similar goals, desiring a new direction for the party. Additionally, Dankwah pointed out that Wontumi's endorsement of the winner provided a boost to their campaign.
Regarding party unity, Dankwah reported that Global InfoAnalytics found former NPP General Secretary John Boadu leading on the question of which candidate could unite the party. Boadu's lead was attributed to his lack of political baggage and his avoidance of controversial public statements.
