Nungua:Hundreds of residents from Nungua and nearby communities participated in a free health screening event organized by Danpong Healthcare. This initiative is part of the Danpong Cares corporate social responsibility program, aimed at giving back to the community that has supported the company for decades.
According to Ghana Web, the event was organized in partnership with East Cantonment Pharmacy Limited and the Municipal Assembly. The main objectives were to provide basic healthcare services, promote health awareness, and encourage early detection and timely medical care.
Participants gathered early at the Danpong Pharmacy in Nungua Kantamanto to take advantage of general medical consultations, blood pressure and blood sugar checks, and testing for malaria and hepatitis B. A significant component of the screening was the free breast cancer screening, which saw over 74 women participating.
A doctor and a pharmacist were on hand to offer medical counseling and guidance. The screening emphasized preventive healthcare, urging residents to have regular check-ups. Free medicines were distributed, supported by East Cantonment Pharmacy Limited and the Municipal Assembly.
As part of the malaria prevention efforts, 140 insecticide-treated mosquito nets were given out, and 45 participants received free medication after medical assessments. Dr. Alexander Osei-Bonsu, the Medical Officer with the screening team, noted the encouraging turnout and emphasized the importance of regular health checks.
Esther Mamle Tetteh, the PRO of Danpong Healthcare, highlighted the importance of this initiative as an investment in the community's health and a gesture of gratitude for their support. She mentioned plans to extend similar activities to more communities, reinforcing Danpong Healthcare's commitment to promoting healthier communities through their Danpong Cares program.
